  Summary: I bought these to replace my E2c's that I thought I had lost. I then found the E2c's allowing for a direct comparison. These earphones are far superior to the in-the-box iPod earphones. They both offer similar (and surpisingly good) deadening of external noise. I belive these are a superior alternative to noise cancelling headsets for air travel - think decent ear plug quality sound isolation. Like the E2c's, these are quirky to get in your ear and require a good seal for effective noise isolation. I have no discomfort from extended wear. I was surprised and disappointed to personally prefer the sound rendition of the E2c's. The SE110s have a more balanced sound and more midrange. The E2c's comparatively sound brighter, maybe a bit artificial. The biggest surprise was a relative lack of "presence" to the SE110s. The E2c's to me, have always been a bit magical, allowing total isolation from the outside world and giving the impression that the music is in your head. The sound is so direct, so detailed, that you hear the music differently, appreciating every sound (and defect in the iPod's quality). Comparitively, to my ear, the SE110 sounds smoothed over and distant.

  Just average / no bass

  Summary: I cannot fathom how the CNET reviewer can say these earphones are "adept at delivering bass". The bass on these earphones is practically non-existent - even with an extremely good seal. To get even close to audible bass on these I must use the bass booster setting on my iPod Touch. Try pressing your stock iPod earphones into your ear canal and you will hear bass about 30dB louder than the SE110's.
  
  On the other hand, the audible frequencies on the SE110 are very clear and free of distortion. And the sound isolation provided by the foam/rubber sleeves is fantastic: a lower tech but far superior solution to active noise cancelation, in my opinion.
  
  My only other gripe is the earphone sleeves are nearly impossible to slide off. I feel like I am going to snap the speaker port off or tear the sleeve apart trying to remove them.
  
  Although I expect to get good use out of these earphones for a number of years, I will look to a brand other than Shure for my next set of budget earphones.

  Summary: I just got mines from the apple store at 5th ave NY with the new ipod classic (80GB)i try it for about 3-4 hours today and they sound very good but i find that the Etymotic Research 6i which i also have has a better imiging and clarity of the music (whatever you trough at them) although bass is much,more present on the Shure SE110 i guess you have to sacrifice either one of both for that price but atleast they perform way better than those that come with the ipod and the $20's-$50's made by Sony, JVC and others.

  Great Headphones

  Pros: -Very good sound, especially with Lossless tracks
  -Comfortable fit

  Cons: -Despite being decent value, still $100 headphones

  Fine if you dont like bass!

  Summary: Tried the Shure SE110 earphones because CNet said they were good at reproducing bass, but they sounded very deficient to me no matter how good the fit. EVen with the foam earplugs, that give a very good seal (but requires priming the foam first by squeezing it with your fingers). I returned these Shure earphones for the V-Moda Vibe -----get the V-Modas!! Then you will see how good earphones REALLY can be at reproducing bass. It sounds like a good stereo system with subwoofer. Also found the V-Modas just as comfortable as the Shures. I am very happy that I exchanged these Shure phones for the V-Moda Vibe!

  Great Headphones

  Pros: Beautiful audio, defined highs and lows. many different ear pads available for different sized ears.

  Cons: Smallest ear pad is still a little large for my ear. Due to wrapping them around an ipod, the cord wore out a bit and if its too bent sound is affected. However, this is covered by the warranty so I'm getting them fixed

There is no base what so ever. The only thing I can figure is that mine are broken. Needless to say, they are being returned less than 24 hours after purchase.

  Great upgrade from the stock ipod earbuds!

  Summary: I bought the Shure SE110's to replace the stock apple earbuds I've been using with my iTouch. These earphones are significantly better than the apple earbuds, the sound isolation of the SE110's allows me to listen to my music at lower volumes and still not be affected by any ambient noise (even while on the bus or train!). Shure's fit kit is the best I've ever seen, there are many different options of foam or rubber tips to choose from. When I first tried on the SE110's I was actually disappointed in the fit and sound, but after trying on every tip in the kit (which includes about 5 different pairs!) I found that the small foam tips were best for me. To get the best sound from these earphones you really have to get the right fit, because when I began using the small foam tips not only were they extremely comfortable but, I was able to get the right seal in my ear canal which maximized the sound isolation and increased the bass I heard. One thing I should also note is that the SE110's are a well built pair of earphones, the cables for these earphones are much thicker than any I've ever used. The only complaint I have about these earphones is that there buds are a liitle bit bigger than most, so when I wear them they kind of stick out the ear, that kind of decreases the sexiness of the earphones. Overall, the Shure SE110's are a great upgrade from the apple earbuds and anything on that level. I think if you already have high performance headphones (like anything within the $70-$150 range) then you should probably look at the SE110's big brothers (SE210, SE310, SE420, or SE530). I might eventually upgrade to one of those after a while.

  Your tool to become an audiophile

  Pros: It sounds good, really good. They are comfortable and the noise cancelling feature is great (based only in the physical contact of earbud and ear, without electronic support). Great and discrete!

  Cons: After several continuos hours of usage it becomes a little uncomfortable. This kind of earbud makes you listen your own biological sounds (breathing, chewing) more than we're used to.

  Summary: This is the most expensive headphone I've purchased and it's worth every penny. I've been trying to educate my listening in order to appreciate the recordings as they are - without equalizing or effects - and now I can do it without missing any frequency. The noise cancelling is good enough to notice how noisy the world is right after removing them from the ears. Now I am sure it's worth paying more for high sound quality - one can easily feel the difference. If you wanto to improve your listening, try these.

  New Favorite Earbuds
